Why this site exists
You’re standing in the kitchen with a recipe in hand, ingredients scattered, and no idea if this is going to taste like what you imagined or end up in the trash.
The instructions are either too vague or too precise, and the photos don’t match what you’re seeing in your own pan.
This site cuts through that. Every recipe here is tested until it works—not just once, but until it works for someone who isn’t me. No gimmicks, no shortcuts that leave you guessing. Just dishes that deliver, step by step.
Who writes this site

This site is written by Guadalupe Mensah, the founder and editor.
Do you test every recipe more than once?
Yes. Sometimes twice. Sometimes three times if something keeps going wrong. I won’t publish a recipe until it’s foolproof—or at least fool-tolerant.
What do you get wrong?
Everything, at first. Timing, heat, even the simplest measurements. That’s why every recipe here has been adjusted until it stops being a guess.
Why isn’t that dish here?
Either I haven’t figured it out yet, or it’s not worth the effort. If it’s not simple to make or delicious to eat, it doesn’t belong here.
There’s always a pot of tea brewing while I cook, even if I’m not drinking it. It’s the one rule that never changes.
How a recipe is built
A recipe starts with a question: *What would make this easier?* Not faster, not fancier—just simpler. Then it’s tested, adjusted, and tested again until the answer is clear.
The first draft

I cook it exactly as written—no improvising, no skipping steps. If it fails, I note why. Too much heat? Too little time? The wrong ingredient? I adjust one thing at a time.
Numbers matter here. A recipe isn’t just a list; it’s a set of instructions that have to work. If the oven temp is off by 25 degrees, it’s not a recipe anymore—it’s a suggestion.
The fix
The second time, I change one variable. Less oil. More salt. A different pan. Each tweak is tested alone so I know what made the difference.
By the third attempt, the recipe either works or it’s scrapped. If it’s worth keeping, it’s written for someone who’s never made it before—not for me.
What we will not do
This site won’t publish recipes that require rare ingredients, obscure techniques, or more than 10 minutes of active work. No shortcuts that hide bad choices, no dishes that need explaining.
Things you will never find here
- Recipes with more than five specialty ingredients.
- Dishes that take longer to explain than to make.
- Photos that don’t match the final result.
- Advice on how to ‘improvise’ when you’ve forgotten half the steps.
Where to start
If you’re new, try the *Quick Lunch* section. If you’re looking for something specific, search by ingredient or technique. If you still can’t find it, the *Contact Page* is where to ask—though I won’t promise an answer faster than I can test it myself.
Say hello
I like hearing what worked—or didn’t—in your kitchen. The contact page is the best place to share your thoughts, questions, or even your own fixes. No emails, no exceptions.
The recipes are grouped by category: Appetizers, Beverages, Breakfast & Brunch, Desserts, Main Courses and Reviews.
